Day 3
So went with Alex to their version of IRS to register the bike
We met his accountant there and she really knew the ropes do not a big deal until the clerk said hey, there’s no mother’s middle name on his passport. What’s with that? Unbelievable that I could get tripped up because of my mothers maiden name really? But I guess she talked a good story because he ended up doing it but the typical government problem.
Tomorrow we’re going to do a few alterations for the trip that will make it a lot more pleasant for me such as lowering the suspension a little bit I’d rather have my feet flat on the ground especially when I’ll be driving on gravel roads, GPS mount and various other little things. Then because I I can ride the bike without a license plate I’m going to go on a day trip the next couple of days. Hopefully the license plate will arrive on Friday but I’m having a good time here anyways, so Monday is OK with me. Not much of a bicycle rider but the hotel had a free one to use so I’ve been tooling all around town having a good time looking at all the artwork fancy restaurants so much stuff out on the sidewalk so you can see all of it.
I found one of the most popular drinks in Chile Solely by accident called a mote de huesillos which is basically a boiled concoction of water and peaches poured on top of hulled wheat seeds or barley and then a whole dried peach on top sounds strange, but tasted great and I was especially happy to hear that you can find this all over the country so I know it I’ll be drinking a lot of the time
I talk to the receptionist who is a very sweet young lady who’s helping me a lot with my phone problems she told me there was a Japanese restaurant down the street a couple of blocks so I went over there, but it turned out to be a vegan Japanese restaurant where there was no seafood at all. It was all made from vegetables Before I got to the place I ate. I stopped in another place because I saw people eating Japanese food and it lookef like fish but the lady in front said oh no everything’s made from mushrooms, so I passed on that place too. Cool being able read all the items in Japanese
I passed on that because I really wanted to eat seafood, so I kept walking around and I saw a place that was advertising 25 pieces of salmon sushi wrapped in avocado. I’ve got to try that I thought the pieces would be really tiny but they were regular full size I could only eat 18 of them. Had to larvae seven on the plate I was bummed. With a bottle of water, total was only 15 bucks.
Fun finally being in a country where I can understand a lot of people chatting on the street or eating outdoors. Unfortunately the fast speech and Chilean dialect makes it hard to understand them but that’s not really that important most of the time it’s just do they get what I want if I’m asking for something to eat or drink if they understand me then I can understand when they say yes or no, that’s working out for me pretty well. Behind the Japanese restaurant I had dinner at. There was a whole bunch of artwork and painted walls and stuff so while I was waiting for my food, I went back there and they had some really fantastic pieces mostly made out of recycled stuff and a Guy noticed I was looking at it so he came and took a picture for me and we started talking. Turns out his bike was there it was a 1996 Harley sportster and he made his own seat which looked pretty good and when I told him it looked good, he said yeah that used to be my jacket. He cut his jacket up and used
the leather from it to make a seat pretty original I thought.
It was in the 90s today but no and lots of shade. If you need to get into it, just gotta keep drinking
You think you’ve had an empanada check this baby out it’s like four times the size of the ones we have in the states or
the ones I’ve ever had anyway
That’s a real lemonade with blueberries, lemon, lime and spearmint sprigs
I’ll get the order of the photos to coincide with the reading soon I hope
