This one tells you to run if you don’t want to get run down, lol

Several firsts again today, including this one that says It’s OK to walk your bicycle across the street as well as a person.

This s a Live Photo if you have it on your phone, but it shows the pedestrian walking and then taking a break

I’m thinking great a napkin holder. I’ll use one to wipe my face but as you’ll see in the next photo only twice as wide as my thumb. Well turned out not to be the next photo, but you’ll see it down below

This isn’t in the top 10 cities but still the mall is pretty up-to-date just as clean and ad modern as any I’ve ever seen in the states

Reflecting the drought fountain has no water
But nothing lacks for graffiti around here

Bust of Bernard O’Higgins, one of the founding revolutionaries of the country

This is the main river going through town, which because of the drought is also totally dried up

The Manny, Moe, and Jack (of Pep Boys tire stores for those if you a little older) restaurant called Pedro, Juan and Diego’s

Here’s the smallest, skinniest napkin in the world

Finally found a bottle of Moscato wine in a big supermarket at the end of the mall

A mid 60s Volvo 122, which is quite rare I think

The other main revolutionary Pratt, general, Pratt

The big mall on the other side of the dried-up river

The sign says healthy world, and that was the total sum of healthy options to buy, none of which are anything that I would buy, but that at least they’re trying
All the natural juices on the shelf do you have natural juice but they also have artificial sugar in them. I couldn’t find one bottle without sugar or artificial sugar.

As you can see, they even have a restaurant for dogs. Just kidding, but it is called Doggis

So a big change in plan today.  I figured I had three more days at least to get to the Peruvian border And five more days back meaning eight days driving through the desert, didn’t seem like a good plan for me so I’ve decided to do something I’ve rarely done before which is stay more than one day in a town. I extended my stay here in Copiapo for two days, and went out walking around the town, very interesting looking at all the stores and all the stuff laid out on the sidewalk. Bought a few things and just basically had a great day, just not riding.  Weather was perfect in the mid 80s but of course today was like every other day for the last 10 days - when you get up it’s cold and overcast if you’re anywhere within 100 miles of the coast and so it was like that here today but the time I got up and started walking around at 11 or 12 o’clock sun was out and it was perfect temperature.  The whole street stopped to watch when two guys started fighting on the sidewalk and few people were willing to intervene until finally some big dude came up and pulled the biggest guy off of the little guy but as in the States, most people were just taking movies with their  cameras.
