Very cool hand-painted staircase
First view of snow on one of the Andes mountains, as I’m heading towards them
This was the road that on the map looked like it went to the border, but turns out it does, but I can’t go on it because it’s a privately owned mining road and this is the checkpoint where they turned me back so I can see Argentina in the background, but that’s as close as I got to it yesterday Oops this paragraph should’ve gone below the picture below.
An example of an extreme memorial to somebody who died along this road
A 500 cc Benelli that I’ve never seen in the states but it was hauling two people so probably didn’t have much more power than I’ve got
Less close-up view of the memorial
A more close-up view of the painted staircase
These guys were in the middle of nowhere and pulled out onto the road in front of me and one guy was towrng the other guy and I stopped at the top of the hill to take a picture of them coming up and they decided to stop so I took a picture from behind
A lot of historical buildings around here from the time of the independence war in the early 1800s this is some kind of a fort or something like that but it was closed so I didn’t hang around and find out
One of the tunnels three to be precise that I went through in order to get to where I am now. They went straight through the mountain carved completely out of rock, only wide enough for one car, and the surface of the road was just dirt and gravel and rock, and no lights at all so it was Interesting to say the least
I stopped to get a drink and noticed this in the backyard of the place next to the drink place. This is a clay and brick cooking oven. There is a metal pipe coming out of the top to exhaust. And right behind it is a giant water tank. A lot of people here have tanks raised up on a platform so that they have either water pressure or so they don’t run out of water.
Looks like I’ve arrived just in time for all the weeping willows to start fruiting. You can see all the little red berries on them.
Very common sight, a dog laying down in the street or on the sidewalk. If I say something sometimes opens his eyes. That’s about it.
My new favorite beer comes from Chile and because they didn’t have any here at the hotel in the restaurant I Asked the hotel owner if he would put mine in the fridge for me and he was very nice about it and said sure sure so I’ve had a cold one twice
Don’t know when this happened, but it appears that an earthquake did quite a nice job on the wall of this historical building
ThIs motorcycle’s attached to the gate for decoration I guess
OK here’s the tunnel inside. Luckily, no water dripping onto the surface of the road from the roof
Pretty much all of the cactuses are turning red now quite pretty photos of course never do justice to them
Just an unusual rock formation on top of the hill
This is Saying that this is the historical army route of the Andes mountains, and that building that I had pictures above is on that list
Goats and they’re never fenced in so I have to keep an eye out for them when I’m up in the hills
This was the third tunnel and the shortest and the tallest
I’ve seen several of these I don’t know what you call him, but like black statues but not really statues from the slave days. A lot of these were made into garden Gnomes and are decorations at the front door. This guy is sitting on a cart.
Thought these were to goats at first when I came around the corner, but turns out they were brown sheep
This is the two guys that were coming up the hill towing
